This went down as one of our favourite nights in South African music history, to say it was epic would be an understatement! We called on all Russian Bear fans to join us for one of the most epic events in South Africa ever! We made history as we brought our fans together to join our very own rap sensation Nasty C, the master of mix – Black Coffee, and International trap sensation from US Atlanta – Gunna as they brought the fire and the lighting and lit up our stage and the sky.

Superfan experience
We also gave some of our biggest Russian Bear stans an exclusive once-in-a-lifetime VIP experience with an all-expenses-paid trip to the event and a meet and greet with Nasty C backstage! VIP treatment in ultimate Russian Bear style as a #BeUS Super Fan.
NANKOO
Another highlight of the night was a special appearance by the winner of our Russian Bear #IAMNEXT competition- Onke Nomangola (NankOo). We’ve travelled a long journey with Nankoo and to say he’s a special friend of the brand would be an understatement and he’ll always be a part of the Russian Bear fam.
Russian Bear is committed to the continued support of our local talents and #BeUs was our ode to Hip Hop which was really about giving the greats that walk amongst us the opportunity to collaborate with the fans and we look forward to bringing music stans more and more collabs because I’m sure by now you know collaboration is in our DNA.
NASTY C
In the spirit of collaboration cue Nasty C, South African rap sensation who has really made it big on the international scene. He entered the scene in 2013, when he wrote and recorded his debut mixtape, One Kid A Thousand Coffins, which received an overwhelming response from fans and launched him on the path to stardom. His 3rd Mix Tape, Price City was what got him noticed by several South African Hip Hop Heavy Weights.
It was the “Juice Back,” single and the ensuing remix (featuring Davido and Cassper Nyovest), that changed the game for him. This song and the accompanying video was played on all major radio and TV stations across the country. Soon after, he delivered his inaugural album, Bad Hair, which he gave away for free. The critically acclaimed commercial re-release of Bad Hair Extensions, featured four new tracks, including a collaboration with US rap artist, French Montana, how’s that for Next Level.
Awards
Nasty C has racked up a long list of awards for his efforts. In 2016, the South African Hip-Hop Awards nominated him for Lyricist Of The Year. In 2017 he took home four Metro FM Music Awards for Best New Artist, Best Male Album, Best Hip-Hop Album for Bad Hair Extensions and Song Of The Year for the album’s infectious lead single, “Hell Naw.” In addition, Nasty C copped a 2017 BET Award nod for Best International Act: Africa and took home a SAMA Award for Record of The Year. And last but definitely not least, his latest album Strings and Bling has just gone Triple Platinum Which goes to show that Nasty C knows how to take things to The Next Level, so it was a no brainer for the brand when deciding with who our #BeUs collab would be with.

Building on from the beautiful foundation laid through #BeUs 2019, it felt only fitting that we flex our #NextLevel collab skills and commemorate this epic event by freezing time and immortalising some of the artists who killed it on the Be Us stage in our Be Us Limited Edition. So we pulled in Costa Titch, DreamTeam, Champagne69 and our boy Gunna and put them front and centre on our new Limited-Edition Russian Bear bottle!
